Beckett Mariner is not named Freeman because she chose to use her mother's maiden name instead of her father's last name. This decision could have been influenced by a desire for independence or a desire to establish her own identity separate from her mother's legacy as a Starfleet captain. Additionally, using her mother's maiden name may have allowed Beckett to avoid any potential favoritism or scrutiny that could come from being directly associated with her mother's rank and reputation. **

However, Yuki is able to use his powers to create a new timeline where Yuno is still alive and they can be together. The series concludes with Yuki and Yuno living in a peaceful world, free from the survival game and its deadly consequences. **
